In the line of fire at the Ryder Cup - by Mark Pain

Tiger Woods has taken his worst loss ever in the Ryder Cup, we think…or as the dude once said “clearly you are not a golfer”. Two amazing things did happen this year… A composed cameraman did not move and got an amazing shot. The ball broke his camera and stopped Tiger in his track. The larger story though is a mystery cigar guy at the Ryder Cup. Do you see him?

If you know him please tell him JU wants an exclusive interview, we are also willing to name him a lifetime editor at large.

The Damned United!!!

Randomly flipping through the tube and came upon this great movie.  The Damned United tells the story of outspoken British manager Brian Howard Clough.  Never heard of him?  Then you must not be British.

"I might not have been the best manager, but I was definitely in the top one"

Clough is regarded as one of the best managers to ever step on the British soccer pitch.  Most notably winning back-to-back European championships with Nottingham Forrest, an accomplishment that has never been repeated by a British club, let alone a sub-par club like Forrest.  The movie was entertaining, hilarious, and Britishly cheeky.  Aside from the main focus of the film, Clough’s disastrous 44 day reign at Leeds United, the movie showed a side of British futbol many outsiders can’t grasp.  Long before the revered Barclays Premier League was established in the 90’s, British futbol was a shambles of unorganized, less than regulated neighborhood teams.  The boys played where they grew up, and soccer stars could often be seen toiling at the mill during the week, alongside their lunatic fans.
